Founded in 2006, Banby Specialist Hospital brings medical and surgical specialists together to provide care for patients in Ibadan and beyond.
Our story
Expanding Access to Specialist Care Since 2006
Banby Specialist Hospital was founded on 2 June 2006 by Professor Bade Omololu, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery.
The idea grew from a problem he saw repeatedly in clinical practice: patients who needed specialist surgery were often waiting for treatment at the tertiary teaching hospital.
Banby was established to complement that system by creating another pathway to specialist medical and surgical care in Ibadan.
From the beginning, the hospital was built around a multidisciplinary model, bringing specialists from different areas of medicine and surgery together.
Today, Banby provides care across orthopaedics, neurosurgery, internal medicine, general surgery, oncological surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT and other medical specialties.
Patients are cared for from childhood through older age, with support from nurses, laboratory scientists, radiographers, ultrasonographers and other healthcare professionals.

Professor Bade Omololu is an orthopaedic surgeon and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery whose career spans clinical practice, teaching and research.
He founded Banby Specialist Hospital in 2006 after identifying the need for greater access to specialist surgical care in Ibadan.
That same need shaped Banby's multidisciplinary approach to specialist medical and surgical care.
